CIRCUS SCHOOL WEEK 20
This Risley-foot-business is no joke. I spent most of class time this week getting kicked from Monkey's feet while holding all my limbs in tighter than pantyhose on a hippopotamus. At the end of the day I wind up feeling like I've been in a car accident. In these photos I start standing on Monkey's feet and do a back layout to land my hips on his feet. It's not exactly a trick we'll be performing soon, but we're chipping away at it....
Welcome to Trixie Little's fan site celebrating the artistic pioneers of neo-burlesque!
BURLESQUE: "A humorous theatrical entertainment involving parody and sometimes grotesque exaggeration, often associated with a variety show in which striptease is the chief attraction."
INNOVATION: "Refers to a new way of doing something. It may refer to incremental and emergent or radical and revolutionary changes in thinking, products, processes, or organizations.
" GUILD: "An organization of persons with related interests, goals, etc. formed for mutual aid or protection."
The Burlesque Innovation Guild was conceived of in 2009 by veteran peformer Trixie Little and made public as a website in June 2010. BIG exists to honor the pioneering artists in neo-burlesque whose innovative, inventive, surprising, clever, weird, ambitious and ridiculous creativity is the future of our art. There is no application process, committee or competition. Just one woman's opinion. BIG is the name. For Little's opinion.
